Rosemary lives on Florida's Forgotten Coast in Port St. Joe. She grew up there and remembers fondly going fishing on the bay and gulf waters, riding the undeveloped beaches in dune buggies, going to the beach, and all things in between. Rosemary also has a fondness for Apalachicola, her birthplace and where her grandmother owned and operated a seafood restaurant for nearly three decades. After pursuing her career away from Port St. Joe, she and her husband relocated back to the area.
Post retirement, the creative bug started itching, and Rosemary tried a watercolor kit and got hooked! This all happened at the start of COVID, so Rosemary used the isolation time to participate in zoom classes and online demos where she was able to advance her knowledge of the medium and painting skills. She has participated in local art center exhibits, plein air events and has traveled to attend in person workshops. She is a graduate of a yearlong intermediate to advanced watercolor course by David J. Rogers, a watercolorist and gallery owner in Morro Bay, CA.

Most recently, her watercolor painting "Rick's Plumerias" was awarded Best of Show of the "Art in Bloom" exhibit at The Joe Center for the Arts in Port St. Joe.
Rosemary’s art was so well received at local exhibits by visitors and friends, she started her own business, Watercolors by Rosemary, and offers original paintings as well as prints in local boutiques and restaurants. Look closely at the walls in your favorite eating establishments and you just might see a couple of her paintings!
When asked "why watercolors?" Her response is "I love the organic nature of the medium, how the pigment flows in the water, how the water interacts with the paper. You think you are in control, but really, you are just guiding the water. It's really fascinating, just magical, really!"
